GIANT MONOPOLY

An American classic, Monopoly, is a real community mixer.  The photo here shows the result of a design competition betwen landscape architects in San Jose, CA.  The winning entry was this giant Monopoly game, which exemplifies the trend in innovative landscape projects that bring communities together with outdoor recreation activities.

Two possible versions to consideer

1. MONOPOLY IN THE PARK - PERMANENT INSTALLATION

A permanent ‘board’  like the one ( http://www.monopolyinthepark.com/ ) in San Jose CA, is installed, and pieces are rented out for special events.  The board seen here is 33' x 33'  holds the Guinness book of records largest Monopoly game in the world.

2.  SIDEWALK MONOPOLY - REVITALIZING COMMUNITIES

This is a new concept that has potential to transform the way we relate to our community, and help improve  community relationships between banks, real estate, utilities, and shops.  Like the game itself, community members are inter-related, and benefit from awareness of thier socio-economic surroundings.

This game concept has plenty of room for adaptations that include commercial interests, service organizations, and the many institutions that make up a nieghborhood or community.  It's great for street fairs, arts festivals, an annual fundraser, or rebranding an existing community.  The concept combines traditonal and modern ideas that offer full participation by all community members.  A great opportunity for intergenerational relations and community building!
